What We Cover

  • City Council Meetings - Votes, spending, policy changes
  • Development & Construction - What's being built, where, and who's paying for it
  • Public Spending - Budgets, contracts, consultant fees
  • Local Crime - Weekly blotter from sheriff and police departments
  • Business Openings - New restaurants, stores, and services

What We Don't Cover

  • National/state politics (unless it directly impacts Schertz/Cibolo/UC)
  • High school sports scores
  • Opinion/editorials (we report, you decide)
  • Press releases without verification

Tips We Want

✅ Good tips:

  • "I just saw crews breaking ground on [location] - what's being built?"
  • "City council approved $X for Y - can you look into this?"
  • "This business is opening in [month] at [address]"
  • "Public records show [specific data point]"
  • "I have documents showing [allegation] - can you verify?"

❌ Not useful:

  • "Traffic is bad on FM 3009" (we know, everyone knows)
  • "My neighbor is loud" (call code enforcement, not us)
  • "I hate [politician]" (not news)
  • Vague accusations without specifics or documentation

Response Time

We read every submission. If your tip is actionable and newsworthy, we'll follow up within 2-3 business days.

Some tips require public records requests, which can take weeks. We'll let you know if that's the case.

Confidentiality

We protect sources. If you want to remain anonymous, say so in your submission. We will never publish your name or contact info without explicit permission.

That said: Anonymous tips are harder to verify. If you can provide documentation (photos, documents, meeting minutes), your tip is more likely to result in a story.
