Tri-County Chamber of Commerce relocates headquarters to Universal City
The Tri-County Chamber of Commerce has relocated to Universal City, and executive director Becky Babcock says the city's business culture sealed the deal.
The Move
Becky Babcock, who became executive director in April, told Universal City Council the chamber was looking for a headquarters that fit their values and needs — and Universal City delivered.
"It it really felt like a god thing between the city, the volunteers, the business networking you all have," Babcock said. "And the way the businesses treat each other, they work together whenever they're coming into Tri County."
Babcock described what she's seen since the chamber began working in Universal City: When new businesses join and are asked "who sent you?" they answer with names like "clean eats down the street" or "the UC health spa."
"Everyone just really works together," she said. "It gave us that positive atmosphere that confirmed that this is the right choice for us."
Ribbon Cutting
The chamber invited the public to a ribbon cutting on Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon at their new Universal City location. (The specific address was not mentioned during the meeting.)
About the Tri-County Chamber
The Tri-County Chamber of Commerce represents businesses across Schertz, Cibolo, and Universal City. It's a regional organization, not tied to any single city.
Babcock emphasized the chamber is for residents too, not just businesses. "We want residents to walk in and say, hey. I need a plumber. Who do we have in Schertz? Who do we have in Cibolo? And be able to to provide that for them."
